BIOGRAPHY

I grew up in Los Angeles and got into photography at a fairly young age.  My father was really into photography as a hobby so he taught me all the workings of a camera with a now ancient manual Pentax 35mm SLR.  At the time I was more fascinated with the mechanics of the camera.  It wasn’t until I got into high school that I really started to value the art of photography and appreciate the work of different photographers and their styles.  When I was twelve someone in my family gave my parents a VHS based camcorder.  The video camera was huge and it had to be plugged into a VCR type of device that you would carry around with you when you were shooting.  It was very cumbersome and didn’t offer the quality of even the cheapest of little handheld camcorders that you can buy today.  That same year I used the camera to videotape my first wedding.  It was my neighbors wedding. I wasn’t going to win any Oscars with that video, but it was a start.

Throughout High School, while I loved photography and videography, I didn't have the confidence at that time to consider doing it as a career. Instead I pursued a career in fitness and nutrition, which was really rewarding in itself. It wasn't until my early twenties when I had gone to a few weddings of some friends and brought my camera along that I decided to transition my career to professional photography and video. I realized while shooting those weddings that I had really good timing and a knack for capturing people's expressions.
